Protecting your finances in the AI World

You may choose to connect third-party services to your Bank of America account. If you do, never share your Bank of America user ID or password, and make sure you understand the permissions you are granting. Keep in mind that by granting access to a third-party, AI-enabled tool or agent, you may be permitting it to take actions on your behalf. If you do share your user ID and password, keep in mind that you’re responsible for activity resulting from that access.

How to help protect yourself:

  • Never share your user ID or password with another person or an outside service, including an AI-enabled tool or agent that offers to act on your behalf.
  • Only enter your Bank of America user ID, password, or security codes directly with Bank of America.
  • Review what information the AI-enabled tool or agent will be able to access and understand how your information may be used, stored, shared, or kept.
  • Understand what actions the AI-enabled tool or agent is authorized to perform.
  • Check if access is temporary or ongoing.
  • Remember to review and remove permissions regularly in Mobile or Online Banking.

Connecting securely:

  • Bank of America gives you a secure way to connect eligible third-party services to your account without providing your Bank of America user ID or password directly to the third-party service.
  • To connect a service, start on the third party’s website or app.
  • If it offers a secure connection to Bank of America, you’ll be sent to Bank of America to log in with us and choose what information you want to share with the third party.
  • As a reminder, never share your Bank of America user ID or password with another person or an outside service, including an AI-enabled tool or agent that offers to act on your behalf.
  • Be cautious of unsolicited links or offers and confirm the AI-enabled tool or agent is from a trusted source.
